Entertainment Corps

Syllabus 2019-2020

 

Course Description

 

The Entertainment Corps performs at home Football Games, Away Football Games held at the district stadium, Pep Rallies, Community Events, and Field Tournaments.  This class meets at 7:00 AM every day and sectionals and after school rehearsals are required each week.

 

Policies

 

Participation

10% of this course is graded on Class Participation inside as well as outside the regular school day.  This includes following rules, being prepared for class, rehearsals and performances, wearing the right attire for events, etc.

 

Your participation in these activities will be graded as follows:

           

                        - 10       Not prepared for class

                        - 10       Breaking classroom rules

                        - 50       Not wearing the right attire for a performance

                        - 25       Not putting away your equipment, uniform, or instrument

                        - 25       Not showing up for a loading, unloading, or clean up assignment

 

Rehearsals/Sectionals

50% of this course is graded on Attendance at Rehearsals and Sectionals.  Students are required to attend one sectional and one after school rehearsal each week.

           

                        Your participation in Rehearsal activities will be graded as follows:

           

                        100       Points that can be earned for each rehearsal/sectional

                        89         Points earned if 1-15 minutes late for call time

                        79         Points earned if 16-30 minutes late for call time

  • Points earned if 31-45 minutes late for call time
  • Absent from a rehearsal/sectional

** This scale is also used for leaving early

Performances

40% of this course is graded on Performances.  Students are required to participate in all performances.

            Your participation in performance activities will be graded as follows:

           

                                    100       Points that can be earned for each performance

                                    89         Points earned if 1-15 minutes late for call time

                                    79         Points earned if 16-30 minutes late for call time

69         Points earned if 31-45 minutes late for call time

0          Absent from a performance

** This scale is also used for leaving early

Tardy Policy

            Students that are Tardy to class will be subject to the following progressive discipline:

  • Tardy 4-6: Students will receive a Teacher Assigned Detention for each Tardy
  • Tardy 7-9: Students will receive an Administrative Referral and Saturday School for each Tardy
  • Tardy 10+: Students will receive an Administrative Referral and SARB process will begin

Please note that this course has been designed to be taken more than once even though your student may have previously completed the course and received a grade determined by the District to be sufficient to satisfy the minimum requirements for high school graduation and/or to satisfy the requirements for admission to the California public institutions of postsecondary education.
